Welcome to the New Orleans Weavers Guild

In 1952, a group of local weavers joined forces to create the NOWG and the guild has been going strong since then.  Today's members weave, spin, dye, and together, find ways to further their skills and share them with New Orleans community through demonstrations at various events throughout the city.

Everyone is welcome from the experienced weaver to the complete neophyte. Members live in the New Orleans and surrounding area as well as in neighboring states.

New Orleans Weavers Guild is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation organized in 1952 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  NOWG meets regularly between September and May,  organizes several study groups during the month and participates in many demonstrations during the year.

The purpose of the Guild is to meet and exchange ideas and techniques relative to the arts of hand weaving, spinning, and dyeing; and to educate and stimulate public interest in an appreciation of the arts of hand weaving and its sister fiber arts of spinning, and dyeing. Monthly meetings generally support members' interests in these areas.  Members are encouraged to bring their latestprojects to share with the group.  The Guild sponsors workshops  featuring well-known fiber artists and educators.
